Addressing modifiable risk factors for breast cancer: can we talk about alcohol?

Alcohol use is a major modifiable risk factor for breast cancer in women, even in low amounts, with evidence of a clear dose-response relationship. However, awareness of the link between alcohol and breast cancer is surprisingly low. In this context, health promotion activities that are tailored to breast screening services are uniquely positioned to provide timely, strategic public health messages to prevent alcohol-attributable harm.
