Parent-centred communication in obstetric US

The aim of this workshop is to improve the communications with and care of parents during obstetric ultrasound examinations, in particular in the event of adverse and unexpected findings. It will introduce and explore new guidelines developed by a multidisciplinary team of experts from sonography, obstetrics, and radiology, and present simulated clinical encounters from parents with lived experience for discussion. It will be valuable to sonographers, radiologists, obstetricians, midwives, and all professionals involved in supporting pregnant women.

Learning Objectives:

* Collaboration to deliver clear and transparent communication across the continuum of healthcare professionals with a shared desire to optimise parent outcomes.
* Understand the approach and potential outcomes when implementing parent-centred communication protocols to achieve consistency and uniformity.
* Develop strategies for inclusive culturally safe care in the event of unexpected findings.
